The Willow Gang: that’s the nickname given to the group of children who gather every day in the little square, at the foot of the equestrian statue of Garibaldi. It is the Risorgimento hero himself (or rather, his statue) who tells their story: the children have noticed that when their parents walk past the newsagent’s, they get angry or depressed. It’s all down to the newspapers – or rather, the ‘civette’, the black headlines that the newsagent displays outside, screaming about wars, deaths and tragedies… But the Gang has a revolutionary idea and, equipped with a marker pen and correction fluid, they’re planning a grand operation: Mission Civette.
